Usually I publish on Thursdays, but today I wanted to commemorate a milestone with a special post (the first in what will be a monthly photo gallery series). This morning a new founding subscriber brought my total paid subscriber list to ten. That may not sound like a lot, but for me, who’s trying to make something resembling an income from my writing, it’s a wonderful start to my Substack journey. Your generosity has also meant $30 raised to date for the American Birding Association. Thank you for helping me help the ABA help birds!
I know some of you, and some of you I don’t. One thing you all have in common though is that I ❤️ you. As a token of my appreciation, here’s a mini-gallery of one of my favorite birds, the Hooded Warbler, who I found in the summer of 2023 at one of my favorite birding spots, Beechwood Farms Nature Reserve. Like you, this energetic beauty was a generous soul. He gave me a solid half hour on that gorgeous morning, during which I took hundreds of photos. Most wound up in the trash bin. A handful turned out pretty decent.
